You have searched the galaxy from the central core to the outer rim and have found yourself in the remote Hoth star
system located on the fringe of the Ivax Nebula in the Anoat sector of the Greater Javin, along the Ison Trade Corridor
at the edge of the Outer Rim Territories on the planet known as Hoth. This is the home of the 501st Legion’s Aurora
Borealis Alaskan Garrison.
- If you are a fan of Star Wars and have a local community event that would benefit from costumed charity and
volunteer work please let us know about it, by submitting an “Event Request”.
- If you are a fan of Star Wars and are unsure about wearing a costume but love the idea of supporting the local community
through charity and volunteer work and want to get involved, we would love to hear from you!! We are always in need
of high quality Imperial Support Crew (ISC) / Handlers which are the life blood of any event for the members. They
assist with members getting in and out of costume, taking photos, crowd control, answering questions about the Alaskan
Garrison and its members (to include its Sister organizations), safety of the costumed members, taking photos of member
shenanigans, guiding and navigating members through the event, monitoring members for signs of fatigue and that breaks
are taken as planned, and most importantly taking photos of the smiles and joy that Star Wars brings to any event!
Please email us and a representative will get in contact with you.
- If you are a fan of Star Wars and are excited to build and wear quality screen accurate costumes and props:
- Remember that anyone 18 years and older regardless of skin color, weight, body type, eye color, etc., can participate.
Our younger friends can join the Galactic Academy and still participate in certain events with us!
- Be aware of your budget. No one ever said that having a screen accurate costume is inexpensive. Choose a costume
that seems within your budget, you will end up fabricating much of your costume, don’t worry we will assist you.
- Sign up on our forums and start your journey into a
world with 12,000+ friends with similar interests as you!
- Start researching a character from the Star Wars universe. We recommend avoiding choosing a character just because
they look cool. Try to pick one that you are interested in and can become educated about, and that you would have no
problem explaining to someone who asks what your character is. It helps to care about your character or at least have a
personal response to questions.
- Think about a character that may fit your personality. If you are happy, restless, and very energetic becoming a dark side
or villain character may not suit you. But then again transforming yourself into this character may allow you to explore
and learn a new side of yourself within comfort (at times in a helmet).
- Pick a character you will feel confident in and can enjoy yourself in and lets you have fun!
- Be prepared to have your cheeks hurt from smiling (even in a helmet), shed a tear when you see an epic moment where a child
and character share a moment together sometimes as simply as a fist bump or a high five or a hug, or that moment with a
patron sees their favorite character standing before them… every moment makes all the work worthwhile!
- If you would just like more information we would love to hear from you! Please email us and a representative will get in contact with you.
NOTE: Star Wars costumes that are commercially available in stores or online may not be acceptable
for membership! It is strongly recommended that you contact the Membership Liaison before purchasing
a retail costume to find out if it is accepted or what modifications might be required.
